Thật ra làm một block có round corner nếu dùng image thì đơn giản hơn nhiều, có điều sẽ làm tăng thêm http Request và tăng dung lượng của trang Web. Có thể nói là thất sách

hehe, i mean persistent, not pipelining. Yup, I agree there is still a tiny delay even when persistent is used. But the delay is not that much (just about 1 extra packet which is a lot smaller than 0.2s to create a new TCP connection). About pipelining, I don't know about the browser side until you told me: useful information to know. On the server side, many servers disable pipelining to avoid being flooded.

Hehe, ok, I agree with you that the size itself shouldn't matter cuz all file will be rounded up to packet size.
But still disagree about the HTTP request. A single background image should only take 1 request. And if the code and image are from same server, the 2 requests should use the same TCP connection since most server support persistent connection now, which doesn't cost 0.2s delay.

And about HTTP Request, hehe, I think you're talking about HTTP pilelining, not HTTP persistent connection. Although persistent connection has many advantage, but it still has delay time between each request from client and response from server.
Pipelining is a good technique, but requires both the client and the server to support it. IE7 still doesn't support pipelining, FF 2.0.* support but it's disabled by default.
Hehe, I don't know much about network, but I just only say what I understood or my experience, and maybe I'm wrong

hehe I disagree. Looks like the html code is bigger than a gif image (i did a quick comparision, may be inccorect). Plus, new version of HTTP has persistent connection so if both the text and image are from the same server (yahoo), it doesn't make big difference. But I think the advantage of your code is that it can quickly generate different sizes and shapes by just adjusting the width, without using photoshop.
Regarding the ad contract, it sounds like it only benefits me, but not you
