WEBSITE PLANNING WORKSHEET
Primary audiences:
· Women who have had or are planning to have baby.
Secondary audiences:
· Parents: who want to understand about the way education children.
· Married couples: who want to get useful information about sexual life and family life.
· Professionals: who want to know the questions and opinion of young mothers and psychology of children.
· Kindergarteners: who want to improve their skills.
· The website will be easy and quick to access because mothers usually are busy with babies and have not enough time for surf web. Moreover they maybe do not reach high-tech skills so much. For simplicity, the navigation contains large bold capitalized words which have the color contrasting to the theme. Each word represents an area of interests. A drop-down menu using JavaScript is used which quickly directs users to sub pages of interest. Specifically, the navigation “NUTRITION” is linked with articles about nutrition for babies. When a user points to mouse to/over the navigation “NUTRITION”, a drop-down box is present which presents the sub pages, .i.e. FAQ, recipes for babies, diet supplements, etc. Words are preferred to images to allow quick navigation and reduce the network traffic. More importantly, a quick search box is presented on the top of the page where users can enter keywords to find relevant topics.
· Mother talk also should be warming and pleasing for users to attract mum and others members of family take part in. The theme will be designed with warm and hot colors (pink, orange, etc) to create the warm feelings.
· The website will use specific logo to reflect the meaning of “Mother Talk” with the letter M represented for Mom and the stylish word “Talk”. It reflects the happiness and cheerfulness. I will also use smiling baby pictures and child toys, baby dolls to attract mothers.
· One of the most important about the website is its broad and precise knowledge about motherhood and babies. The information will be updated constantly to keep users coming back. It is anticipated that users normally visit the website when they have some difficulty when raising their child, I will create question and answer page where they can post there questions and get quick response from the consultant or other members.
Users will have their own account to access their streamlined information. They can also post their ideas, their comments, their questions, and participate in some events, or games. Other users are limited to viewing and making comment on the page.
· The home page of the website will contain updated news and information where users can read. Alternatively, they can search for the information.
· A search engine is used to provide search functionality. I envisage that I will use DIGG search engine.
· 1 page for anyone who wants to participate in this website to register and become a member.
· 1 page questions and answers where members can post questions and receive solutions from their peers.
· 1 page for shopping online. The website will sell selected family, and baby products. It helps mothers to save time and choose the right product for their children.
· 1 page for health and nutrition. It provides users information about all aspects of children illness, pregnancy, family planning, child mending tips, etc. This page also contains recipes for nutritious meal for baby.
· 1 page for psychophysiology and child parenting, for example, tips to choose right toys for children and methods to play with them so that they can improve their mind, attitudes and develop good habits.
· 1 page for mothers with all of female things such as cooking, fashion, make up, etc. In addition, this page will provide useful information about sexual life, parental psychology.
· 1 page for forum where members can comment, and post entries to ask questions or provide answers, upload to share pictures.
8. Bells and whistles:
· The website is also a source of children songs and lullabies. It also has “live chat” feature where members can “chit chat” together when they are online.
